About the Artist

I grew up in Los Cabos watching the sea. Since childhood, the light on the water, the golden hills, the flowering cacti, and the shells on the sand were my first lessons in beauty. All of that lives in my paintings.

I'm Sheyla Marker, a Mexican visual artist. My work is rooted in this belief: that life is a canvas, and that beauty isn't reserved for grand moments — it lives in the small, extraordinary things that exist everywhere. A wild flower. The texture of a stone. The color of the sea at dusk.

I began with expressive abstraction, and over time found my language in abstract realism: work where nature becomes emotion, where the elements of the sea, flowers, and the landscape of Baja California transform into color, texture, and soul. I work primarily with mixed media — oil, acrylic, and materials that give surfaces depth and story.

Every piece I create is one of a kind, made with intention and love. I don't only paint what I see — I paint what I feel. And what I feel is gratitude: for living in a place of extraordinary beauty, for art as a form of connection, and for the possibility that someone, somewhere in the world, will hang one of my paintings and feel exactly what I felt when I created it.

That is all I want: to share beauty. Because life is beautiful — it all depends on the colors you choose to see it with.

Welcome to my world. Welcome to Shemark.
